May 23, 2013· The Extreme takes 6 volts and the new battery pack I'm building supplies 6.4 volts, so should be sweet on GP series coils. Have to research this coil issue a bit more, I would have thought the coil impedance would be the same across the SD/GP/GPX series..seems a sensible thing to do, but I guess ML had their reasons

Oct 23, 2016· I have owned all Minelab detectors since the GP Extreme, upgrading and trading in each time a new model came out, but when it came to the GPZ7000 the cost (and inability to trade in) held me back. I also could not credit that the new machine could be that much better than the 5000, which I had always thought of (and still do) as a fine detector.

Dec 22, 2006· The GP series, GP Extreme, GP3000, GP3500 and the lastest GPX-4000 are much more sensitive to smaller gold and smaller gold at depth. I also believe the GP3500 and expecially the GPX-4000 are getting more depth over the SD and ealier GP series. Hope this helps a bit, Rob Allison
