Mechanical Kiln Monitoring (MKM) System

The MKM-System is an on-line measuring system for rotary kilns with more than 2 Stations to detect abnormalities during operation, which can lead to mechanical failures. The main objective is to detect thermal or permanent cranks in the kiln shell, loss of relative movement on kiln tires and problems in axial movement at an early stage.

Kiln shell and tyre temperature - Page 1 of 1

re Kiln shell and tyre temperature. Tyre Creep . Purpose of tyre creep control:. From a tyre creep point of view, the minimum heating-up period is determined by the time required to stabilize the temperature difference (and hence the clearance) between the kiln shell and the tyre, since the shell will heat up faster than the tyre.

Kiln shell run-out (or eccentricity), is the inaccuracy of kiln shell rotation about its true center. It is the radial offset about the true center of rotation of the kiln. This situation is commonly referred to as a kiln shell crank, dog leg, or a banana in the kiln shell. Causes of shell out-of-roundness and run-out.

MYTHS CONCERNING SHELL PROFILE ANALYSIS 022308

merit. Shell profile analysis provides no useful information regarding the mechanical status of kilns because the theory behind it is fundamentally flawed. The procedure yields shell runout data, without quantifying the degree to which the runouts are dampened by often significant changes in shell stress distribution as a kiln rotates.

Cement Kilns: Design features of rotary kilns

The melting point of mild steel is around 1300°C, and it starts to weaken at 480°C, so considerable effort is required to protect the shell from overheating. Historically, the construction of rotary kiln shells has closely paralleled the construction of boilers.

Rotary Kiln Maintenance Procedures

falls far short of assuring the mechanical stability of a kiln. The alignment must also optimize ovality, and address roller slopes and roller thrust loads. Without a comprehensive kiln alignment mechanical failures will frustrate cost effective operation. A kiln is properly aligned if and only if it meets the following requirements: 1.
