I am an avid DIY-er, and I needed a QC Tool Post for my Southbend lathe. This item is very sturdy, and once you get a height set on the tool holder, it stays there. The toolholders also have a "warped" washer of spring steel between the top and bottom nuts. The position of the bottom nut determines the height of the tool post holder.

Some time ago, plans for a copy of the post WWII South Bend workshop lathe bench were made available on the Yahoo southbendlathe group. I took a look at them and liked what I saw. From what I understand, South Bend sold the lathe bench as a kit to be assembled by the owner. It's designed using 2"X2"X1/8" angle steel with a butcher block top.

A good adddition to any lathe is a tool post drill, even more so now I have an indexing attachment to use with it. The tricky part was boring out the main body for the bearings as I don't yet have a boring head.
