This is a nice way to give a little bit of the typical Strat quack along with the bite of humbuckers. Overall, based on the Blacktop guitars I played, I think Fender has a big hit on their hands with these guitars. They appear to be a great value and, aside from the finish issue I mentioned above, appear to be solid, well-made guitars.

I prefer CAR over most 'bursts though. IMHO, this looks like nothing more or less than a Blacktop Jaguar with P90's instead of humbuckers. The Modern Player Jaguar has P90s in it, but IMHO it has some funky control positioning. I don't hate the pickguard-less look, but I am not really a fan of the location of the controls or the Strat jack plate.
