The DIY-Dredger has been sold in the Nordic Countries for many years and there are now more than 1500 happy owners all over the world. The DIY-Dredge is a compact, highly portable, gasoline engine powered, sediment removal pumping system. It is designed to provide the homeowner and contractors with the ability to excavate and transfer unwanted sediment.
This gold prospecting tool is ideal for working below the water line when a motorized dredge cannot be used. It helps you get the gold out of some really tight spaces, a hand dredge is well, handy, when you're prospecting along a river. If you've found a rich spot that is hard to access, the hand dredge can produce some decent gold!

The power jet or suction hose is supported by the jet support hanger. 2.5 " DREDGE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Top view Power Jet or hose connector slides into jet flare approximalty three inches and is held in place by the T handle hose clamp.
11-02-2011· i need to build a flare and power jet as getting one from the states is to pricey. my sluice box is 14 inches mide, 46 long. what need to know is the dimensions of the flare ie, length, with at sluice box and how much flare to put on it . i was going to build one like prolines with the longer tube section. if any one could help me it would be great.
16-04-2014· 2 inch jet = 3.14 x (1" (radius of jet) Squared) 3.14 x (1 x 1) = 3.14 sq in for a 2" jet. 3.14 sq inches x 7% (.07) = .219 sq. Inch for eductor. Now for the tricky part: convert backwards and finally come up with a bore diameter. Eductor size is .219 sq. In which we will call .22 - because it is easier.
No question that many gold prospectors would love to own a dredge, and dredges are very cool pieces of prospecting equipment that will allow you to mine some very nice gold nuggets, but the prices for new ones are really high.Don't forget however, that in the earliest days of dredging, there were no manufacturers, and all small suction dredges were handcrafted units made in someone's garage.

Power Jet Gold Dredge. A Power Jet is more efficient because there is a shorter pressure hose from the pump and therefore less friction losses. The Power Jet enters the suction line just before the sluice, which means the gravel is being "pulled" up the hose rather than "pushed" by a suction nozzle. This can help prevent blockages.
First you have to decide if you want a suction nozzle or power jet type. The suction nozzle puts the high-pressure water in right at the nozzle. A power jet puts the high-pressure water in just before the sluice box. A suction nozzle is best in very shallow water; a power jet produces better overall suction.
These are 1) The suction nozzle where the jet is up at the nozzle point, and 2) The power jet where the jet is located up near the sluice box. In addition to pumping water, the small engine also produces compressed air for the diver to use while underwater. In cases where the water is shallow the gold diver may simply use a snorkel.

2.5" Dredge. This machine was a trend setter when it first came on the market and it continues to be one of our best sellers many years later. When other 2.5" dredges were floating on inner-tubes, required a suction nozzle for producing dredge vacuum, and had limited depth capabilities, the Proline 2.5" dredge sat on sturdy pontoons and used a power jet for dredge vacuum.
A dredge designed to work on flotation, with a compressor for underwater dredging, is almost always equipped as a power jet. Since a power jet and supply hose must be kept under water at all times, it won't work very well in shallow water. Shown below is a wide variety of gold dredge nozzles from several reputable manufacturers.
28-07-2011· A power jet puts the high-pressure water in just before the sluice box. A suction nozzle is best in very shallow water; a power jet produces better overall suction. Most dredges are power jets, but some smaller units, 3 inches and smaller are suction nozzles. I recommend the power jet.
In the case of the power jet, for 100 GPM applied to the venturi jet, it only sucked 50 GPM through the nozzle and dredge-hose. I repeated the test 5 or 6 times and the results were always the same. The suction nozzle drew 75 GPM and the tri-jet drew 90 GPM.

A gold dredge is a placer mining machine that extracts gold from sand, gravel, and dirt using water and mechanical methods.. The original gold dredges were large, multi-story machines built in the first half of the 1900s. Small suction machines are currently marketed as "gold dredges" to individuals seeking gold: just offshore from the beach of Nome, Alaska, for instance.
No one makes power jets like Proline. Rather than using a steel casting, we use a more efficient machine formed eductor. The result is a lighter power jet with better vacuum and easier priming. These power jets are popular with those building their own dredges or who simply wish to improve performance on dredges they already own. 1.5" Power Jet ...
06-08-2013· Suction nozzles and power jets are, without a doubt, the most problematic dredge parts for a home build dredger to construct. Most dredge builders would be far better off to buy a power jet or nozzle from an established dredge manufacturer. I can't add any more about building a nozzle or power jet than what has been previously written in this ...
the power jet with a hose clamp. The foot valve and hose assembly clamps onto the black pump intake on the pump. Take the time to make sure that all hose clamps are tight and the couplings are all snug before attempting to operate the dredge.

I'm far from convinced that an infinity jet would be any more efficient than a well built conventional power jet however.
